Never Mind – Livvy Edit

This one took me a long time to get right, I actually put it together before my previous two releases, it just wasn’t quite right so I shelved it twice!

I wanted to make a melodic track, with a one tone “sonar” style sound running right though the entire track, but at the same time I didn’t want it to sound boring, so it needed to evolve over time.

I shelved it the first time and went on making other tunes, and released “I’m In Love”. As soon as I started making that track, it clicked much better, so I ran with that and didn’t think about “Never Mind” for a while, taking a mental break from it if you will.

Once I’m in Love was out, I went back to Never Mind, and made some good progress, but it still wasn’t right. I shared it with a couple of family members and friends, and I could tell by their muted reactions it wasn’t hitting the mark.

Shelved again, I made something completely different and gave myself a full break away from thinking about how I could bring Never Mind to life. This time I made “All Night Long – Iz Edit”, a totally different track, this was Tech-House, with a simple rhythmic play between kick and base taking centre stage. It was loads of fun and gave me the break I needed from Never Mind.

Getting back into it with Never Mind, by this point Cakewalk by BandLab, my DAW I use to produce my music, had been phased out. I had to admit, I was in panic mode for a little while, and researched loads of other DAW’s to decide which way I’d go next. Ableton, FL Studio and Cakewalks replacement Sonar became my top three choices. In the end, I stayed loyal to BandLab, for two reasons. One, Calewalk was free, and I am massively appreciative of the opportunity it gave me to step into the world of music production without a hefty price tag attached from the word go, and I wanted to give something back to them. Second, it was familiar in that whilst more advanced, the user interface on Sonar wasn’t massively different to Cakewalk. all three are great DAW’s, but I’m with Sonar now and very happy with it.

Im sure changing my DAW at this time, but having a platform that was familiar and also exciting because of new features, gave me that extra 10% inspiration to finish Never Mind. So, along with the usual visuals made in blender, here are the usual links to listen to my latest track, Never Mind, dedicated to my eldest daughter Livvy, who inspires me every single day. I hope you enjoy it ☺️
