Fantasy Garden

Well, when the whole globe is on lockdown, for very good reason, and the UK is no different, the garden is a pretty good place to take some photographs. When you add some creativity and two super imaginative young girls into the mix, the results are what you see here!

The sky held some decent interest, however our garden isn’t the normal type of moody landscape I like to photograph these days, so I hatched a plan. I positioned the girls slide in the middle of the garden, slightly left of centre, and side lit by the soft morning sun.

Next, both Livvy and Izzy really got into character, when I asked them to just imagine they were both riding their favourite “animals”. Livvy chose a Unicorn, and Izzy a T-Rex; both suit their personalities so well, I cant begin to tell you! Each took a turn in sitting at the top of the slide, and playing make believe. The image you see above is Izzy, pretending shes riding a T-Rex, I think you’ll agree, she got into character really nicely!!

After that, it was just a case of editing the images as I normal would in Lightroom, and then venturing into Photoshop, something I’m a lot less familiar with, but am really enjoying learning all the same.

I edited out the slide, and replaced with the creatures the girls had chosen. I couldn’t find a unicorn image I liked, and so used a white horse and combined it with the horn from a Narwhal.

I really enjoyed taking, editing and compositing these images, and the girls had great fun too. They love the end results too, so much so we might print them out for their rooms.

I learnt a lot about Photoshop on this fun little project, and I have been researching and learning a lot about it the past few weeks. Its a huge subject, a huge software platform to learn, but my goodness it is 100% right up my street! Combined with Lightroom, its unlocking a lot of possibilities, and I’m excited to see what I can bring out of my creative mind in the future using it.

Hope you’re all safe and well, take care of yourself and everyone around you.

    1. Thank you so much! For me it was a winner all round; I got to practice photography, learn more photoshop, we stuck to the rules of social distancing and, most importantly, the girls had a lot of fun! ๐Ÿค—. Take care too my friend, please stay safe ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿป
